Admissions
Parents who are interested in registering their child(ren) at Royal West Academy should contact us for information about eligibility and programs. RWA also registers new students throughout the school year, however, acceptance depends on classroom availability.
PROCEDURE/CRITERIA FOR SELECTION
Royal West Academy attracts more applicants than it can accept. The selection process established by the school is as follows:
• On-time applications to the school are considered first.
• Applications are accepted from any student eligible for English language education.
• All applicants, regardless of school of origin, are treated equally.
• We do not have a sibling policy.
QUALIFYING TESTS
Applicants for Secondary I write tests for English, French, and Math
• 45 minutes each
• all multiple-choice
• Math qualifying test is offered in both English & French
There is no additional penalty for wrong answers.
Applicants must bring:
• 2-HB pencils
• an eraser
• no calculator or cell phone is permitted
• a snack
• a book to read
UPDATES TO APPLICATION STATUS
Based on the results of the Qualifying Tests and the Report Cards, applicants will be notified in October by letter of:
• an offer of early acceptance OR
• the date and time of their interview OR
• our inability to offer placement.
INTERVIEWS
200-300 applicants are interviewed with their parent/guardian.
• include a French language component.
• help determine willingness to participate in all aspects of school life.
POST-INTERVIEW
Our selection committee reviews the interview report, and all submitted documents, to make the final decision concerning each applicant.

- Qualifying exams will be held on Saturday, September 28 (last names A-L) and Sunday, September 29 (last names M-Z), from 8:30AM – 12:00PM.

Eligibility requirements for English public schools
If you do not have a Certificate of Eligibility
In order to qualify for English Instruction in Quebec Public Schools, students must meet certain eligibility criteria under the Charter of the French Language as set out by the Quebec government.

If you have a Certificate of Eligibility
When you come for your appointment, please bring the following documents:
- Subject Selection Sheet
- Certificate of Eligibility
- Student’s most recent report card
- Your current address and phone numbers
- Your child’s Medicare card number and expiration date
