Cafeteria Services

The EMSB aims at promoting health-enhancing attitudes and behaviours among all students by providing an environment encouraging healthy eating habits. By ensuring access to nutritious foods through our school cafeterias and our nutritional support programs, we contribute to the achievement of our students’ full academic potential. By teaching the essential knowledge and skills students need to make nutritious food choices, we contribute to the prevention of childhood nutrition-related problems such as obesity, diabetes and dental diseases. Let your taste buds come alive at the E.M.S.B. Cafeteria! EMSB Cafeterias take pride in serving nutritious foods and balanced meals that will help keep students energized throughout the day. All meals are prepared and served by our courteous staff of over 50 trained food service employees in our 18 cafeterias. These meals are made using high quality ingredients and promote healthy eating by following Health Canada’s Eat Well Plate.  We aim to be an example for healthy meals to our students. Our multicultural menu offers our students a great variety of healthy meals at subsidized prices that are pleasing to the senses! Royal West Academy – Cafeteria Policy

The cafeteria offers students a good variety of healthy foods at reasonable prices. Home-baked muffins, brownies and cookies, milk, pure fruit juices, water, and cheese are some of the enticing snacks offered at recess. Lunch includes all of the above, plus hot soups, hot meals, nutritious fast foods, and salads. The main dish of the day typically sells for about $4.25. The cost of meals may vary from year to year. Meal cards are available for sale through the EMSB website at https://leminibistro.emsb.qc.ca/ui/s_public/meal-card.aspx A subsidized breakfast program is available to all students at a cost of $1.00. Breakfast is served between 8:00 AM and 8:25 AM.

Students who remain at school at lunch may either buy lunch in the school cafeteria or bring a lunch from home. In either case, they are encouraged to eat in the cafeteria. Please note that students must go to their locker and be in school uniform prior to entering the cafeteria in the morning or at lunch. School bags are not permitted in the cafeteria during lunch time and cannot be left in the hallway unattended. The Home and School Association makes microwaves available to students in the cafeteria. The use of reusable water bottles is strongly encouraged.
